Short answer: the free plan is for testing, not publishing. You get 60 processing minutes a month, every export has the OpusClip watermark, and clips expire after 3 days. For watermark-free clips, Starter ($15/mo, 150 min) is the entry point; if you process more than 150 minutes a month, Pro ($29/mo, 300 min) costs almost the same per minute and adds scheduling, 16:9 exports and project refunds.

The plan you need comes down to one number: how many minutes of source video you feed OpusClip each month. Below is what each plan really includes, how credits are counted, and a quick way to pick — all from OpusClip's own pricing page and help center.

What the free plan includes (and its limits)

  • 60 processing minutes per month, counted by the length of the original video
  • AI captions with emojis and keyword highlights; import from a YouTube link or a local file
  • OpusClip logo watermark on exports
  • Clips expire after 3 days; exports up to 1080p within that window
  • 1 brand template

New accounts also get a 7-day free trial of Pro features, which converts to the Free plan automatically. Trial exports are still watermarked, and the trial can't post or schedule to social media, export 4K, or refund a project.

One nice detail: if you upgrade later, the watermark disappears automatically from projects you created on Free or the trial.

Pro-only features include 16:9 and 1:1 exports, export to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, scheduling to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and more, AI B-roll, team workspaces, and refunding a project's credits within 14 days if you haven't downloaded any clip yet.

Pro is the only plan with yearly billing; OpusClip's help center says yearly credits are 50% cheaper than monthly. Check the yearly price at checkout.

How OpusClip credits are counted

1 credit = 1 minute of the original video you import. A 30-minute podcast costs 30 credits, no matter how many clips you get out of it. Videos under a minute round up to 1 credit; partial minutes round down (a 4.5-minute video costs 4). Posting to X costs 3 credits per post per account.

You don't have to process the whole video: the "Processing timeframe" slider lets you pick just the best 30 minutes of a 2-hour stream and pay 30 credits. Monthly credits stay valid for 60 days, so unused minutes roll over once; yearly credits last 12 months.

Which plan fits your channel?

Your workflowMinutes / monthBest fit
Four 10-minute videos40Free (if a watermark is OK)
One 30-minute podcast per week~120Starter
One 1-hour stream or webinar per week~240–300Pro
Two or more 1-hour streams per week~480+Pro + trim the processing timeframe

A simple way to decide

  1. Run one real video on the free plan. Check caption accuracy and whether the clips it picks are usable.
  2. If the watermark or 3-day expiry is a problem, go paid. For a monetized channel or client work, that's usually the case.
  3. Under 150 minutes a month → Starter. More than that, or you need 16:9 or scheduling → Pro.

You can move from Starter to Pro mid-cycle and only pay the prorated difference, so starting on Starter is low-risk.

Language support at a glance

OpusClip lists 25+ supported video languages. English, German, Spanish, French and Portuguese are fully supported; the rest — including Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Italian and Dutch — are marked beta, where "you may encounter some inaccurate emojis or highlighted keywords." Chinese is not on the list, and right-to-left languages aren't supported. Caption translation currently outputs English only.

Clipping someone else's stream or video? Check the creator's clipping policy or get permission first — OpusClip edits whatever you upload, it doesn't check rights.
